Brown & green should never be seen

But I disagree!

Am l.o.v.i.n.g. all the greeny brown-ness at our place right about now.

I'm trying to  keep to the same tones; Jasper brown & Plantain green throughout.

We're about half way through painting the fences Jasper too.

So I think I've changed my mind about brown (but shhhhhh...don't tell Loz I said so)

p.s. those three tealights are on the fireplace wall.  Yep, it's Jasper!

Stacked stone - hot or wot?

We found a house on the weekend with pretty much the same colour scheme as we've planned - beige royal/surfmist, jasper and stacked stone in delhi bronze. But now I'm freaking out...
Is stacked stone still "in", or will people point and laugh at the funny lady's rock house?

Pillow talk...

I've been doing a little pillow analysis of display homes and builder websites to find some ideas to dress the beds in readiness for the string of "open for inspections" we're about to undergo.

Of course, coz it's me, I've categorised them...

I might have to start working an afternoon shift coz it's going to take me all morning to pile these babies up.

And just thought I'd mention that our slab is being poured in 18 sleeps (in case you'd lost count).

A bit of decor-um please?

I'm getting VERY excited about our slab pour (in 21 days time but who's counting?)and really don't have any interest in anything other than that beautiful home which has been such a wonderful distraction obsession.

So this is where I'm heading (for today at least) in the decor department...

Although we don't have any wall niches to fill with plantation shutters, we'll be using them on all front facing windows (thanks for the discussion Deb & Tonia)with roller blinds similar to the master bedroom image on all other windows. We'll take Deb's advice and leave the corner stacker doors to the alfresco bare (and hope like anything that we don't have a 2 storey directly behind us).

I know... too much time on my hands. But there's only so many times you can make a 1.5hr round trip to see that nothing has changed on your block. Speaking of which, check out this post from one of our bloggy friends in NSW, Tonia. I'm still laughing about it, but she's one seriously committed builder. HILARIOUS!

Branching out

I have some strange ideas sometimes (mostly coz I spend more time than I actually have daydreaming about our house-to-be).  My latest whim is for potted bare branches in the entry hallway niche.

How many?

Has anyone noticed how many vases Metricon have in their display homes? Back in the day (I'm so freaking old) you'd maybe have 2 or 3 of these now essential decor items - mostly cut glass or crystal if you were upper class- and they were used for holding flowers. Now days they are EVERYWHERE with not a bloom in sight. So I'm wondering...why
is it so? Do we live in hope of having our men bring us home a different bouquet every night? I'm thinking not! So just how did the humble vase reinvent itself???

Even more shopping (oh dear)

I know - naughty, naughty, naughty!!!  But the table matches the hall table, and our current dining suite we inherited from Mum a few years ago is still in good order, but it's got turned legs, is baltic pine, and just doesn't sit with the look we're trying to create.  I'm not 100% sold on the chairs coz I was picturing something a bit more modern and funky like this...

I guess we can always sell the chairs if we find they look too heavy and dominating in their new home???

A little more shopping

I'd like to introduce you to our newest addition to the family, and our first furniture purchase for our Monaco - isn't she a beauty??
We were actually in search of a really cheap hall table to begin dressing our current home for sale.  Didn't quite work out that way as we ended up smashing our budget, but getting something really well made that will sit beautifully in the entry, with drawers to stash all of the assorted micro-clutter that tends to wander through the doors.  Thank you Harvey Norman for 177 months interest free!!!!

A spot of (bargain) shopping

We're on the hunt for anything with a metallic orange finish to it to tie in with our newly conceived theme of "Thailand meets the Aussie outback" (I know - strange combo, but I'll post more on that another time).
A few weeks ago we came across the vase on the left at our fav nursery - Kurunga in Mt Evelyn, along with the platter below, were really happy with the prices and snapped them up for fear of metallic orange going out of fashion as we don't want to wait another 30 years for it to come back in!
Yesterday we found the stripy one in a homewares store with a $69 price sticker.  Hoping it would match in with what we had already bought, we took a punt, got to the register, that'll be $199 thanks.  Uh - doubtful.  Sure enough, on the bottom it had a proper sticker with barcode for $199.  I didn't even look there!  To their credit, they gave it to us for $69, (I wouldn't have paid the other price) and we couldn't get out of there quick enough with our treasured bargain in tow.  I'm expecting the karma fairy to break it on us before we move!!!
Where are they going to live?
The platter will take pride of place on the dining table, one vase will wave hello on the entry console table and the other will fill one of the niches in the hallway.  We'll wait until they're in place before we decide whether to fill them with some form of branch or just leave them as they are.
