I'm LOVING this stage of the build, Every day (or at least every visit) there's something new to get excited about. Last night we found;
...that our windows has been delivered on site, as had...
...the front door frame + laundry door frame (we think), and...
...roof trusses. This is just 1 stack of them. Big house we're building Loz. Which now looks like...
And by the time we stopped frolicking, and proudly showing off our frame to Emilio & Amy, it was getting dark. So for the first time we saw...
...our gorgeous street light all lit up.
It's getting harder and harder to leave each visit. It already feels like home. Might be a bit cold at night though, so I'll wait until we have at least a roof before we (read I) camp out!!!!!

MAGIC!!
Windows and roof trusses by the weekend.
I know how you feel! We have been down 4 times in 3 days and after having lunch with Deb yesterday I didn't want to drive home :( at least there will be plenty of people to call in on while we build!
Great progress Reinsry - you must be a happy girl - Oh and you too Loz!!!
Yaaaaay!! This calls for a champagne celebration I think!!
I'm getting excited for you now Raels.... looks awesome... must be awesome pulling up each time.
Can't wait till we are doing the same... just hope that the site is reasonably accessible for me! Do you know if they do the curb crossover early or at the end?
Hi Reinsey,
Thought I would pop past your blog to see how things are going. Your place looks awesome! Almost exactly like mine at this point :P
You'll be happy to know we are still loving our Monaco! It's starting to feel more like a home! Lighting has been installed this week which makes it look a hundred times better (than fisher mans hats!).
Good luck with the rest of your build :)
Cheers,
Sarah (aka sarahq)
I hope you're right Deb! There still seems so much more to do on tube frame itself though. No floating wall in master. Fireplace cantilever wall not started. None of the bulkheads yet. Guess they leave the internal parts for last???
J, i think we're now where u were a while ago with the mental separation from the old house. It's not home anymore. I can't wait, can't wait, can't wait!!!
Tonia, I was trying to convince Loz that we need to christen the house, but I didn't even think of champagne :p
Hi Ads, it's more than awesome! Overwhelming actually. After all this waiting, it's pure magic watching it spring up from nothing. And to actually go from room to room and "feel" the space...
I think each State builds in a different way-different sequence. Do you mean the actual concrete driveway crossover? Or the crushed rock up to the house? You'd be able to navigate around ours at this stage, so I hope your builders are respectful and think of your access too!!
Sarah!!! So good to hear from you!!! I stop by your blog all the time and just drool. Love love love your house. I don't know anyone who's building a Monaco. It's all montrose and atlantique (but ours is better!!)
Happy to hear that you're loving it. Any chance of pics?????
Oh My Gosh Its starting to look like a house already and its all happening so quickly, cant wait to be able to see exciting new things everytime we go down!! Congrates guys its stunning!
Christen the house? lol :)
hmmm...come to think of it..we haven't 'christened' ours either!! haha
WOOT!
How excitement!
I hear you on not wanting to leave - we have taps, a bath, toilets and running water now so I REALLY can camp there and its harder and harder to leave..
In no time you will have real walls and a roof ;)
Yeah I need to look at some of the paperwork that Coral has given us. There was something about the stages of the build but I have a feeling it didn't mention the crossover (the ramped part of the drive that will be cut out from the gutter).
I hope you're right about the builders and taking some care regarding access. I just need to be able to get up the gutter from the street, then use a portable ramp to get up on to the slab.
Have you been down to the house today??
Hi Deb...yes we went down early this morning. Took the furkids for a drive to start them getting used to their new house. Our chippie, Daniel, was on site so we had a good chat to him about our beautiful, massive house. I'm completely smitten by it :)
Hey Ads, our actual concrete crossover was done by the developer when the footpaths were put in. Are we talking about the same thing???
and you saw.....???
Did he clarify the door and bulkhead?
Saw a bit of truss activity. He's totally on top of everything. Was working from an old set of plans (hmmm). So much pride in his work - love it!!
Just as we thought...and what about the w...ws?
A big fat donut on the w...ws. Running a few days behind schedule. Says it's the most complicated frame he's built, so he's taking his time to make sure he gets it right. You've gotta love that!
Well Alice in Wonderland you best get down there tomorrow!
OOOOooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
MMmmmmmmmmmmyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
GGGGGgggggggggggggoooooooooddddd
Have we got our windows in Deb ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
God that was hard work......YES!!!!! and they look magnificent.
ALL of them in, or just a couple?
If I wasn't working right now I would be down there with headlights blaring in about 42 minutes!
We drove past approx. 3.00 - guys looked like they had packed up and were about to leave. Never got out the car but looked pretty much all done to us. Lovely 'picture' front windows.
Ha ha.. Loz just said "Picture windows? Is Deb at the right house". MEN!!!!!!!!!
Well they are, I love windows with no middle frames! and Jasper will be gorgeous with Mushroom Brick if I remember correctly?
We've got NOOOOOO idea what our house will look like as our facade wasn't on display. The reveal is going to be EXCITING!!
Yep - good memory Deb. Mushroom brick, but render to front... Beige royal with oriental spice (burnt orange) to portico, stack stone to projection between bedrooms and a jasper garage door. Guess I can start stressing about colours again soon..ha ha :)
Thanks for the heads up (again) Deb. What would we do without you?? xx
Will look fantastic. Yep, the stressing starts all over again.
Wasn't sure whether to tell you or not...I know you have quite a drive and busy working. Dare say frame will be finished next week then gutters/fascias and roof before Easter!
Our garage door back, bricks cleaned, stormwater pipe clear! rendered again - better. Minor carpentry, painters and cleaners still required. Plus have pulled down a section of cornice in the Study again (3rd time)? - were never going to Handover last Friday.
SS called Friday - Kevin Wednesday, Handover Thursday/Friday...
'please don't give me another date just call when finished'.
Met diagonal back neighbours again today - lovely couple, very frustrated as house is still not at lockup after four months with no idea who their SS is!!
Carlisle communication excellent and eager to please - certainly no problems in that area.
Ecstatic that you told us. We didn't think much else would happen today so would definitely not have gone to the block/house tomorrow.
I'll keep everything crossed for you for a Thursday handover Deb.
Who are your diagonal back neighbours building with? 4 months is a bit rough.
Good, don't want to spoil your excitement - happy running thru house tomorrow.
Our Luke home 1st April for two weeks and I'm on leave until 14th..would be nice to have house! Our slow move time frame is shrinking, tentatively rebooked removalists for 11th April.
Neighbours with Clarendon Homes - read my blog and wanted Kevin's number. Amazing who reads our blogs - lady walking dogs other night heard me call BonBon.....is that Debra from the Blog! mortified!
:)
Should be able to get your drive and other bits done by the 11th????? Your shutters could be through by then too - maybe?
Ha ha - you're famous Deb.
Drive etc. is re-scheduled after Easter as Mentone Mix require three weeks to order pebble mix - can't muck the concretor around again, also risk too close to pour to drive on.
Shutters more likely end of April.
Fence completion after concreting eeeekkkkk!! I'm exposed to the whole world.
May as well sell coffee on the footpath with Blog Lady stamped on my forehead!
Whats cure time on exposed agg?
April...d'oh. I'm dying to see yours. I'm thinking of ordering ours as soon as the architrave is fitted to make sure I have them for when we move in (if we scrape the $$$ together)
Cafe Le Blog Lady. I love it. When do you open??
Pour and pressure wash - day after seal and saw cut expansion joints...we wouldn't drive on for a week.
I hope Shutters come up well. Good idea if your sure on colours....white/off white/snow white etc...
