A little more progress

March 31, 2011

We're in week 3 of framing, and slowly but surely the team of 2 are making progress.

Front door frame is in.   If I put a door mat down do you think the tradies would wipe their feet?

How do they even know where to start?   Note the gorgeous sunset reflected on our trusses.

Still a fair bit of work to do, but she's starting to take shape.  Maybe the framers will finish this week? A few windows are yet to go in.  Theatre and laundry door heights to be rectified.  Bulkhead to theatre & kitchen to be built, as is the fireplace wall and floating wall in the master bedroom. Plus more roof stabilising and preparation for tiles.  With that list, I'm thinking it might still be another 2 weeks! Impatient much?

Great progress Reinsey, its gonna take longer than Deb's because its a much bigger house, keep that in mind!!!

Still no action at our end, went and picked up paperwork as it never arrived in the mail (as promised), and we have to sign off on a few things, then it says they will start within 4 weeks of receiving this letter!!!

Unbelievable!! Shall be tackling them on that, at this rate we will be lucky to be in by next year :(

Great progress Reinsey..at this rate I think you will be in before us! 3 week delay for gyprock - totally ridiculous!!

Good luck with the rest of it. Id say framing should be done by end of next week for you?

Grrrrrrrrr...that's garbage!! Is their interpretation of a site start based on when their paperwork is transferred to their building department?? If so, that's when their build time and hence penalty calculation starts too. Grrrrrrrrr...do you need to gather a posse for a sit in at Romeo Homes? We can chant "what do we want..janines house to start...when do we want it...NOW".

What?? Has NSW run out of gyprock Tonia??

haha NO! Our gyprock was delivered a week ago! Bloody council and SS are driving us insane with their lies! Promises promises and nothing is happening! Grrrrrrrrrrrr!!

It's nice to see progress finally, but in my opinion this is taking far too long.
We've built twice, first hubby and me, and on our second home, (5 bedrooms, 1991-2) the frame went up in two days, tiles and bricks delivered within a week of frame finish.
Our first house, 4 bedrooms, (1986) the slab was poured weeks earlier than expected, frame was delivered as soon as slab was cured, frame was erected in one day by one carpenter, tiles and bricks delivered by the end of that week. Total time from signing contract to moving in was 16 weeks.
Why do things take so much longer these days?

Looking so good Reinsey!! We just got home from the Avenue and had a little look at your pretty frame and we spotted many of piles of pressies sitting just inside your fencing !! They might help to keep the rain out :)

Woooooooooottttttt......roof tiles! Thanks Tash. I love it that you guys all let me know what's happening on our house. Thank you thank you thank you!!!
Think I'm feeling a bit *cough* sick tomorrow. Might have to find a doctor near the new house *cough*

We're not too stressed River. It's a bloody big house with lots of niches, features, bulkheads and a massive roof span through the rear living areas. They've also built the entire frame piece by piece. Nothing came pre-fabbed. Our chippie is a true craftsman. But YES it does seem to be taking ages. I just wanna live there already!!!

Spaghetti junction....I hope Loz is taking note where all those roof trusses are for whatever reason he goes crawling around up there!! Frightening isn't it - how do they know where everything goes? plus the heating and cooling ducts have to fit in as well!

If your feeling a bit 'cough' tomorrow are you knocking on my door?
